We have great pleasure in presenting to you the Annual Report for the year 2010-11.

The year 2010-11 was an eventful year for the Chapter with many events and activities being organized as well as significant milestones that have been achieved.

The significant milestones are :
1. Inauguration of the renovated chapter office at the hands of Shri Raj Saraf Chairman, Zenith Computers Ltd. in the presence of Shri M. D. Agrawal, now President of CSI on 4th May, 2010.
2. Inauguration of new premises of Head Quarters and Mumbai Chapter at Samruddhi Venture Park at the hands of Padmabhushan F. C. Kohli our Mentor and Patron in the august presence of Dr. Vijay Bhatkar on 25th March 2011.

National Conferences :

- Mumbai Chapter hosted Annual National Convention of Computer Society of India 45th CSI – 2010, in November 2010 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai.
- Student Convention – CSI 2010 Student Convention was hosted by Mumbai Chapter at Father Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering, Mumbai on 26th November 2010.

Mumbai Chapter Initiatives :

Awareness Programs on Cyber Security

CSI Mumbai Chapter jointly with Mumbai Police and NASSCOM carried out a number of programs and events in the month of May 2010 to create awareness about Cyber Safety in the multiple stakeholders – business, industry, students, professionals, academia and society. These programs had an overwhelming response and have created a very positive impact on the audiences.

  • Cyber Safety Awareness for Doctors at the K.J Somaiya Medical College and Hospital, Sion on Monday 24th May 2010.
  • Cyber Safety Awareness for Engineering Students & Teachers at Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering on Tuesday 25th May 2010.
  • CIO – Police Interaction meet at Police Gymkhana, Marine Drive, Mumbai on 26th May, 2010 at 7.00 pm.
  • Program on Cyber Safety Awareness of Computer Society of India at the Mumbai Chapter Members Meet in the presence of then President of CSI, Prof. P. Thrimurthy on Thursday 27th May 2010 at the Chapter Office.
  • Program on Cyber Safety Awareness on Radio FM Channel GyanWani 105.6 mhz of IGNOU & SNDT for College Students organized by Computer Society of India –Mumbai Chapter on Sunday 23rd May, 2010 at 7 pm & Monday 24th May 2010 at 7 am.

Administration :
The elections to the chapter were held on time and results declared by the Nomination Committee which were published and conveyed to Head Quarters. The Accounts of the Chapter were finalized and sent for audit before 31st May 2011. They have been duly audited and are placed on the website for adoption in the Annual General Meeting.

Student Branches and Activities:
The number of student branches grew by 4 to reach 20. These student branches held a number of programs throughout the year - lectures, workshops on technical subjects, student competitions and fests. The student convention CSI – 2010 was the combined student event this year held in November 2010. The chapter held the annual SEARCC Young Talent Search Competition for school students in the chapter office on 26th September, 2010.

Membership :
Membership registered a good growth of 10%, but needs to be pushed further and we appeal to all our members to come forward and spread the word and get more members from their respective organizations, friends and associates.

Collaborations :
During the year Mumbai Chapter actively collaborated with the Bombay Management Association(BMA), Information System Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Indian Merchants Chamber (IMC) and NASSCOM for bringing programs and activities to our members.

C. S. R. Activities and Social Initiatives :
CSI Mumbai Chapter has successfully ventured into social initiatives and promoting corporate social responsibility. The chapter sponsored rural development initiative in villages bordering Mumbai and Thane in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The Mumbai Chapter has organized the funding for the CSR activity of making school children from these places IT enabled.

The way forward :
The chapter has planned various initiatives and pioneering efforts like Security Forum, Cyber Forensic Awareness Clinic, Centre for Advanced Studies, research activities, library and laboratory facilities in the years to come.

We at the Mumbai Chapter seek your active participation, contribution and constructive suggestions, feedback and ideas to make these initiatives successful and to help us serve all of you better and take Mumbai Chapter to greater heights.
